 Join A Committee

Joining a committee is a great way to empower yourself and others by leading activities to help GOABA reach our goals. You must be a registered Professional Member of GOABA to join a committee. You can select the committee(s) while registering to become a professional member or within your online profile after you have signed-up to become a professional member. 

The Committees

  • Community Service Committee - Seek opportunities to engage with local communities within our service area to support through volunteer work, educational programs and awareness of our organization as representation as a black minority organization for accountants and related business professionals
  • Compliance Governance Committee - Ensure organization bylaws and policies and procedures are kept current to meet current operational needs and adhered to by the executive board.
  • Corporate Sponsorship Committee 
  • Financial Literacy Committee - Offer programs to educate and encourage generational wealth and financial wellness.
  • Marketing & Communication Committee - Responsible to maintain social media and website reflects most current information of the organization. Responsible to provide respective committees information received from the website for specific committee. Ensure timely issuance of monthly newsletters reflecting all upcoming events, maintain corporate sponsors information on the website, job opportunities, recognize special events in the community, months recognition i.e. Dr. Martin Luther King, Black History, Women’s, Mental Heath etc. with the assistance of members providing articles for posting etc.
  • Membership (Professional & Student) - Includes Professional and Students – promote the organization to both groups. Co-Chairs are required for both committees. Create events to offer opportunities to increase and retain membership. Keep membership inform of activities and work closely with marketing and communications to ensure Newsletter and or communications of events are posted to social media and or sent to members timely.
  • Professional Development Committee - Provide opportunities for continuous learning for both self and professional development to include career topics, soft skills and technical skills.
  • Scholarship Fundraising Committee - Host fund raising events for various operational and or special projects needs. Oversee scholarships for both students and professional membership. Set criteria for scholarship, ensure postings and awareness to stakeholders; ensures funds are raised to support scholarships offered.
